Tropical Storm Andrea could threaten New England by weekend
KingstonJournal.com will be keeping a watchful eye on Tropical Storm Andrea, the first named storm of the 2013 Atlantic Hurricane Season, as it churns through the Gulf of Mexico and across the Florida Peninsula late Thursday night.
Andrea will be entering the waters east of Florida by Friday and will threaten the Eastern Seaboard, from Georgia to Maine, if the tropical storm stays together.
According to the current project track, released by the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Andrea will strattle the Georgia and South Carolina coastline before once again moving over water off of Cape Hatteras.
Any effects felt in New England from Andrea would likely not be until early Saturday morning before the storm moves to the north and east.
Tropical Storm Andrea is currently stationed several hundred miles west of Tampa Bay, Florida with winds sustained at 40 m.p.h.
Tropical Storm Warning’s are currently in effect along the Western shore of Florida with Tropical Storm Watches extending northward to Wilmington, NC.
